Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa, Fly Addis Ababa to Jinka

  • When you arrive, Omo Valley Tours (King Dawit Tours) representatives will greet you and transport you to the hotel for a briefing and coffee.
  • After a briefing, return to Bole International Airport for a short flight to Jinka.
  • When you arrive at Jinka Airport, our vehicle will be waiting for you, and you will be transferred to the reserved hotel. Check into your hotel. Today upon time you will visit one of the nearby Omo tribes (Ari peoples village) after lunch.

Day 2: Excursion tour to Mago National Park, including visits to the Mursi tribes before continuing to Turmi.

  • Drive into the Mago National Park in the early morning after breakfast, admiring various animals and birds along the way, and then continue to visit the Mursi people and their villages. For attractiveness, women used to insert circular discs into their lips.
  • Return to Jinka for lunch in the afternoon. If it’s a Thursday, take a drive to KeyAfar to see the vibrant Thursday people markets at KeyAfer village, which include the Benna, Hammer, Tsemay, and Arbore.
  • As you drive to Turmi, admire the incredibly vibrant Dimeka village of the Hammer people. If you’re lucky, you might see one of their dances that night Evangadi, a traditional dance performed by hammer boys and girls with the help of the moonlight.

DayĀ 3:Ā Drive to Murulle, andĀ visit the Karo Tribes. Then back toĀ Turmi.

  • Visit the Karo ethnic group by taking the drive to Murulle. All over their bodies, they have highly interesting designs and scarification. The Karo men also fashion and shave their hair into ornate forms, frequently donning distinctive ochre “caps” of hair that include a number of ostrich feathers.   • Return to Turmi by car in the late afternoon. By chance, you will visit the vibrant market of the Hammer People if it is Monday or Thursday.
  • Hopefully, Turmi will also present an opportunity to witness and participate in one of the famous bull jumping rites, which is thought to mark the transition of the hammer boys from youth to adulthood.

Day 4: Travel by boat to Omorate and visit the Dassenech people. Back to Turmi

  • Early In the morning, you will depart for Omorate, which is 75 kilometers away on a well-maintained asphalt road. When you arrive, you will have the option of choosing which villages to visit, as there are communities both before and after the Omo River. Locally constructed wooden boats are used for transportation.
  • Make your way back to Turmi in the late afternoon.

Day 5: Early in the morning, drive to Jinka to catch a flight to Addis Ababa (Nighttime Departure).

  • Drive to Jinka town in the morning after a leisurely breakfast in order to catch a scheduled flight to Addis Ababa. Meet our team when you arrive in Addis, and take advantage of hotel amenities for the day.
  • Then, in the evening prior to your departure home, you will be taken to a traditional restaurant for dinner and to enjoy performances of Ethiopian traditional dance.
